to students and beginners, and I am experienced in teaching groups of children as well as adults.

aterials for each class I teach are easily obtainable (some provided free),
and the teaching direction is project-oriented throughout. New students are often
surprised to find out how quickly the basic techniques of lettering
and border decoration can be applied to cards and plaques for framing.
dvanced students are taught further skills such as writing on parchment, wood
and other surfaces, applying gouache and pastel colour work, and gilding.

Next classes (2017):
Having spent 2015 and much of 2016 on a break from teaching and exhibiting,
I resumed my teaching classes in the autumn of 2016 on a limited scale
for some of my previous students who were keen to continue advanced studies.
If I return to teaching classes for new students in the near future, I shall
shall post full details here as soon as any details are finalised.
Meanwhile, if you are interested in beginning or improving your own calligraphy and wish to be considered

SPRING 2013 "CELTIC ILLUMINATION" DAY COURSES
Three separate one-day courses from 9am to 4pm
in my Studio at Bothenhampton, Bridport, Dorset
on (choose from) Tues 2 Apr or Thurs 4 April or Sat 13 April 2013
Maximum of 6 students per class.
Come and learn how to transfer a Celtic illuminated letter and how
to paint and embellish. All course materials and frame for your
finished piece are included in the cost of £35.00 per person
(but please bring your own lunch). Some places still available (26.3.13).

Three new 10 week courses of morning classes

efore moving in 2009 to Dorset, I ran occasional private courses in Woking, Surrey
(usually in my own studio workshop) for small groups of three to five people at a time.
I was also hired periodically for several years by Surrey Adult Education Institute to
organise and teach structured classes in calligraphy.
